Published on by Pratyush Mahadevaiah · 2 min read

Nova Hacks is proud to announce a feature article on EcoSphere 360 for the Nova Hacks I hack.

EcoSphere 360 was designed to democratize access to environmental data, transforming complex climate information into interactive, 3D visualizations. Developed by a team driven by social impact, the platform combines climate data with AI insights to empower users—from individuals to policymakers—to make informed, actionable choices toward sustainability.

Unveiling the Innovative Vision

EcoSphere 360 allows users to explore global environmental metrics such as energy consumption, pollution, and biofuel trends over time. Standout features include mapping submarine cable networks, air traffic routes, and real-time satellite tracking to highlight how infrastructure impacts our planet. The platform’s AI-driven insights simplify complex data, offering tailored responses based on user queries, allowing users to explore data points effortlessly.

Technology and Development Journey

Built with tools like Node.js, Three.js, Flask, and React, the project showcases real-time 3D visualizations that users can interact with to explore global sustainability metrics. Integration with a large language model (LLM) provides data-driven insights, breaking down barriers to understanding climate data.

By combining these technologies and methodologies, EcoSphere 360 emerged as a powerful tool for visualizing and analyzing the environmental impact of human activities, empowering users to make informed decisions for a sustainable future.

Challenges and Future Directions

Overcoming technical challenges with GeoJSON and real-time LLM execution, the team’s commitment shines in each of EcoSphere 360’s refined features. Future plans include expanded data sources, a community platform, real-time pollution tracking, and mobile accessibility.

EcoSphere 360 stands as an innovative tool for climate awareness, driving collective action against climate change through engaging data visualization.

This innovative project exemplifies how hackathon solutions can push the boundaries of climate tech, creating accessible tools to inspire sustainability.
