Nova Hacks is proud to announce a feature article on GreenGuard for the Nova Hacks I hack.
GreenGuard is an innovative platform designed to tackle urban waste management issues through community-driven efforts. By enabling users to report waste locations, track contributions, and earn rewards, GreenGuard encourages collective responsibility and environmental action.
Inspiration and Vision
GreenGuard was inspired by the urgent need for efficient waste management in densely populated areas. With waste piling up, this platform was created to simplify waste reporting and encourage collective responsibility through rewards. The team believes in the power of individual contributions adding up to significant environmental change.
The concept evolved from recognizing how small contributions can collectively lead to massive environmental impacts, and we wanted to build something that could foster collective responsibility.
Key Features
GreenGuard enables users to report waste locations with Google Maps integration, earn points for responsible actions, and view real-time notifications and collective impact stats. An AI-powered classification system also assists users in identifying waste types with a simple photo, making responsible disposal easy.
Technological Approach
Developed with Next.js and DrizzleORM, GreenGuard is a blend of modern tech tools like Web3Auth for decentralized authentication, ShadCN for streamlined design, and React Hot Toast for notifications. Google Maps API integration ensures precise reporting, and Gemini AI contributes to advanced waste management insights.
Future Directions
GreenGuard’s next steps include community gamification, partnerships with eco-friendly brands, mobile app development, and enhanced real-time collaboration with city services. The platform envisions a cleaner, greener future, empowering individuals and communities alike to take collective action.
Through GreenGuard, the developers aim to redefine urban waste management by connecting environmental responsibility with meaningful rewards.
